Scammers target older adults every day and their tactics are getting more convincing. Know the signs and protect yourself and your loved ones.

Common elder scams to watch for:

• Imposter scams — fake government officials or relatives claiming to be in distress
• Prize & lottery scams — you “won,” but must pay fees or taxes first
• Tech support scams — callers claim there’s a problem with your computer and request access or payment
• Financial exploitation — someone pressuring you for money or access to your accounts

Remember:

• Never share personal or financial information
• Be skeptical of unsolicited calls, emails, or texts
• Don’t feel pressured to act immediately
• When in doubt, hang up and check it out
