About Us

Department Overview
The Village of Mamaroneck Police Department (VMPD), led by Police Chief P.J. Trujillo, is a full-service law enforcement agency comprised of sworn police officers, bay constables, parking enforcement officers, civilian staff, and park rangers. VMPD has proudly served the Village of Mamaroneck since 1895, working tirelessly to ensure the safety and well-being of all residents, businesses, and visitors.
In December 2023, the department earned New York State Accreditation, a distinction awarded to agencies that meet rigorous standards in three key areas: Administration, Training, and Operations. Accreditation provides formal recognition that the department adheres to professional best practices, maintains clear and effective operational policies, and ensures that all personnel are aligned with the department’s mission and responsibilities.
Out of more than 500 police agencies across New York State, only about 165 have achieved accredited status — placing VMPD among a select group of departments committed to operational excellence and public trust.
