Leaf Blower Law Reminder
As warmer weather approaches, the Village of Mamaroneck reminds all residents, landscapers, and property owners that the Village’s Leaf blower law is in effect and actively enforced. Please review the rules below to avoid citations.
Gas-Powered Leaf Blowers: Prohibited Year-Round
Gas-powered leaf blowers are never permitted within the Village, regardless of the time of year.
Seasonal Restrictions on Electric Leaf Blowers
Electric leaf blowers may only be used during the following window:
- Permitted: October 1 – May 14
- Prohibited: May 15 – September 30
Additional Day Restrictions
Leaf blowers of any kind are also prohibited on Sundays and on the following holidays: New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents’ Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Yom Kippur, Rosh Hashanah, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
Permitted Hours of Operation
On days when leaf blower use is allowed, operation is restricted to:
- Weekdays: 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
- Saturdays: 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Property Size Limits
On properties 5,000 square feet or less, only one leaf blower may be operated at a time. No more than three leaf blowers may be operated simultaneously on any property, regardless of size.
