The Village of Mamaroneck Police Department is proud to participate in a statewide initiative known as The Blue Envelope Program. This program is designed to assist drivers with autism and other special needs by facilitating clear and calm communication during traffic stops. Participants can pick up a blue envelope at the Police Department, which is intended to hold important documents such as a driver’s license, vehicle registration, and proof of insurance. Presenting this envelope during a traffic stop helps ensure a more understanding and effective interaction, especially for individuals who may experience sensory or communication challenges. All Village of Mamaroneck police officers will be trained to recognize the blue envelope and understand its significance. To further support community members with special needs, you can also complete a Special Needs Registry application here.
